Some of you have spotted our lovely ballroom floor is showing it’s age. It’s increasingly creaky and wearing very thin in places. We called in the experts who say it’s over 60 years old and will need replacing before too long. We know the ballroom is special so any replacement would have to be identical Canadian Maple boards so the floor would look and feel exactly the way it does now and last for another 60 years. We need planning consent and also to raise funds to pay for the work so nothing will happen at least until next year but watch this space and we’ll keep you and the rest of the community posted on progress.

Are You Sitting Comfortably??
We’re very grateful to The National Lottery for their Awards for All Grant. This means we can replace our ballroom chairs which some of you have noticed are increasingly old and battered and, more seriously, don’t meet modern safety standards. Not only are the new chairs smarter and much easier to move around and store, we can dress them up or down for weddings and social events. Result!

The survey will run until Easter, it’s completely anonymous, shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes and we’ll report back with the results when it’s done.

2024 Christmas Opening
To give the team a well earned rest we will close after the Callum Doigne concert on Saturday night (Dec 21st) and reopen as normal on Friday January 3rd.

Good News from the Lottery!
Great to see Telford MP Shaun Davies last week who congratulated the team after we were awarded £175k over 5 years by The National Lottery Community Fund to support the Anstice. Shaun said, “The Anstice shows what a true community partnership can achieve and I’m delighted they have been able to secure funding for the future.”
Lyndy Boden Centre Manager thanked Shaun for his support, “We’re incredibly busy with over 1000 people using the building every week. But we’ve been hit hard by the cost-of-living crisis and this grant will help us pay bills, develop new income opportunities and make sure we’re here to serve our community into the 2030s. It’s very exciting and we’re grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund and to everyone who plays the National Lottery.”
Callum Doignie
Last Saturday we enjoyed ‘An Evening with Callum Doignie’; a sellout fundraising event put on by the Ironbridge and Coalbrookdale Civic Society.
Callum is a lovely local lad who was a finalist in the latest series of ITV’s The Voice. He put on a great performance and was adored by the crowds. Click here to read the write up by The Shropshire Star.
